A New Era in Post-Crash Emergency Response

Every year, thousands of lives are lost in vehicle crashes where faster emergency response could mean the difference between life and death. Too often, 9-1-1 centers become aware of a crash minutes after impact— long after critical opportunities to save lives have passed.

At the LiDAR Saving Lives Public Safety Coalition (LSL), we’re transforming that timeline.

Our mission is clear:

Support the development of a nationally interoperable capability for delivering real-time airbag deployment notifications to 9-1-1 systems, enabling secure, standards-based data sharing across vehicle platforms and communication networks to Next-Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), and enhancing situational awareness to support faster, more informed emergency response when seconds matter.

Why This Matters

When an airbag deploys, that moment is one of the strongest signals of a serious crash. But today, emergency systems often learn of that crash too late — and only after multiple manual steps, legacy voice calls, or telematics center handoffs.

LSL is working with industry, government, and public safety partners to change that.

Crash events bypass legacy call-center delays, flowing instantly into NG9-1-1 ESInets, Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), and Real Time Intelligence Centers (RTICs) via a unified interop layer.

🔹 Delivers a Single Pane of Glass for 9-1-1

Dispatchers gain one real-time dashboard of verified crash alerts, eliminating fragmented feeds and speeding lifesaving decisions.
